How To Use Online Marketing Principles To Launch Your Business ...

Here you will find effective and up-to-date information to guide you in applying Internet marketing to your business model. Your marketing efforts can be enhanced using these tips.

A good way to get your site users? opinions is to utilize polls located next to your content. This fills your website with engaging content that makes readers feel welcome.

When you are making a website you need to take care with your content. Educate your customers about your product and why it would be a benefit for them to purchase. To keep your audience?s attention, make sure you do not repeat any statements and keep out useless and filler content.

Offer people a guarantee when you market your products on the Internet. Customers want to know that your product is a sure bet before they part with their hard-earned cash. You can experiment by offering different guarantees on different products, and see what works for you. Try making a 90 day money-back guarantee on one product and a lifetime guarantee on another. Select which guarantee is best for the product that is being sold.

Give customers the option of rating and reviewing your products, along with explaining their choices. When your customers leave honest feedback, it inspires confidence in others who are considering purchasing from you. It is good advertising for the quality of both your products and your customer service.

Make sure to update your site?s content frequently. If your site has only old articles on it, it will not rank well in search results and people will not visit it again. If you site is orderly, functioning properly and is regularly maintained you will find that you have more visitors that stick around.

The word ?guaranteed? has a special allure for consumers when used in website marketing. A guarantee will let people know that they can trust in your company and your products. Customers value their hard-earned cash highly, and when they see a guarantee, they believe their chances of wasting their money are lower.

Just in case you do not know this already, you already possess the things you need to be a winner at online marketing. All that is required to be successful is you, not pricey software or get rich quick schemes. Just work hard and imagine what you can achieve when you are marketing yourself.

Offer special deals to new clients, such a deals for a dollar or buy one- get one free. This could be a good way to launch your online business or to generate a buzz as you release a new product. People may also be more likely to add other products to their cart at the same time. Above all, you need to be very confident in what you?re selling to people.

Incorporate an automatic electronic signature into your emails as it portrays a more professional image. This is just like handing out business cards. You want as many people to see your signature as possible. Letting those who receive your correspondence get a glimpse of your business is a great way to recruit new visitors to your website and generate even greater profits.

Always try to give an extra bonus to your customer when you ship their purchase. It might be a free sample or a discount coupon for future purchase. Most people look at coupons in a positive sense and it gives them a reason to purchase more of your products.

Try offering to put a portion of every purchase toward a relevant charity if that is something that will appeal to your audience. This needs to be clearly advertised to your visitors. A small part of your profit will go to the charity and your number of sales will probably increase.

The key to a successful Internet promotion strategy is to write unique quality content. This is particularly true for retailers on different sites, selling identical items, who all need an accurate manufacturer?s description. With your own original descriptions, peppered with choice keywords and manufacturer info, your site can really rise above the rest, even if you are all selling the same products.

Start small when launching a new website to introduce your offerings. There is a higher chance for search engines to bypass your site if it has over a million pages, than if your site only has twenty thousand pages.

Think about using simple terminology on your Internet site. These words will put your customers at ease, as most people do not enjoy products that are difficult to use or put together. You can quickly increase business in this manner.

Offer something unique on your site that none of your competitors have. Having animated images or even cartoons on your website might get people interested in stopping by. Giving your customers something they can only get through you is a great marketing tool.

This article should have given you some sound advice on Web marketing. We hope that you not only were able to learn something, but also will be able to apply it. Effective Website marketing can help your online business succeed.

Belkin introduces Thunderstorm Handheld Home Theater for iPad handson

While Belkin has long been at the forefront of Apple accessories, offering everything from keyboard cases to baby monitors, it somehow left the audio arena unexplored. That ends today with the introduction of the Belkin Thunderstorm Handheld Home Theater. Behind that mouthful of a product name is essentially a portable speaker dock for the iPad housed inside a protective case, which seems a lot more reasonable than Bang & Olufsen's pricey speaker "wedge." The Thunderstorm's front-facing speaker system boasts full-range drivers and integrated air channels for "immersive sound" and "deeper bass." All the internals are powered by Audifi, a mobile audio engineering outfit that Belkin specifically hired for the project. As for the cover, Belkin took a cue from Apple's own magnetic offering, but went a step further with the addition of multifold creases for different viewing angles.

We spent a few days with the Thunderstorm and so far we're impressed with the volume and depth from such slim speakers. Though we didn't have a chance to test it, Belkin is also offering a free iOS app to accompany the product -- it essentially lets you fine-tune the audio with presets for music, movies and games. However the Thunderstorm is not without a few annoyances: the case adds an unsettling amount of bulk to the iPad and it's currently only available with the now-ancient 30-pin connector (we're told a Lightning-equipped version is due in Q2 2013). If you're happy with the ole universal dock though, you can pick this up in the coming weeks from Belkin's online store, Amazon.com or the Apple Store for $200 a pop. In the mean time, you can get a closer look at it with the galleries after the break.

Facebook's Questionable Policy On Violent Posts Toward Women

Wired:

Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities offers numerous guidelines regarding appropriate speech and user safety, including an admonition that "you will not bully, intimidate, or harass any user" and that "you will not post content that: is hate speech, threatening, or pornographic; incites violence; or contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence."

But that hasn't stopped countless users on the social media site from making comments, posting images and starting pages that promote the rape and abuse of women. And in many cases, it doesn't mean that Facebook has any intention of stopping them, either.

Avis to buy Zipcar as slow economy boosts car-share business

(Reuters) - Car rental company Avis Budget Group Inc will buy Zipcar Inc for about $500 million, surpassing larger rivals Hertz Global Holdings Inc and Enterprise Holdings Inc to become the No.1 player in the fast-growing U.S. car-sharing market.

The offer of $12.25 per share in cash represents a premium of 49 percent to Zipcar's Monday close. Zipcar's shares were up 48.8 percent at $12.26 on the Nasdaq on Wednesday morning.

"We see car sharing as highly complementary to traditional car rental, with rapid growth potential and representing a scalable opportunity for us as a combined company," Avis Chief Executive Ronald Nelson said.

Zipcar controls about 75 percent of the $400 million car-sharing industry in the United States. The total market is projected to reach $10 billion over the next several years, Nelson said on a conference call with analysts.

Higher demand for car sharing in the face of rising gasoline prices has also attracted traditional car rental companies such as Hertz and Enterprise.

Zipcar's business is at least five times larger than Hertz's and Enterprise's car-sharing businesses, Needham & Co analyst Kerry Rice said.

The deal will position Avis as the market leader in car-sharing services in the United States, he added.

Avis has been relegated to No.3 in the $22 billion U.S. car rental industry, after Hertz secured the No.2 spot with its acquisition of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group in August.

Avis also bid for Dollar Thrifty in 2010, but later dropped out of the race.

Zipcar, founded more than 10 years ago, pioneered car-sharing services in the United States. Car sharing allows customers to rent cars at an hourly or daily rate and park in convenient reserved spots. Zipcar went public in April 2011 and raised about $174 million.

DEAL DRIVERS

The deal, expected to close in the spring of 2013, will add to Avis's earnings, excluding items, from the second year and is expected to generate between $50 million and $70 million in annual synergies.

Zipcar will operate as a unit of Avis and Scott Griffith will remain the unit's chief.

The company said it expects to fund the transaction primarily with available cash and additional debt. The company had cash and marketable securities of about $554 million as of September 30.

Zipcar has more than 760,000 members, or Zipsters, with a presence in 20 cities in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Citigroup is advising Avis while Morgan Stanley is advising Zipcar on the transaction.

Avis's shares were up 6 percent at $20.91 on the Nasdaq on Wednesday. Hertz shares were up 3 percent on the New York Stock Exchange.

Five Dead as Troops Battle Islamists in Northern Nigeria

???? ??? ????? ???????? by Naharnet Newsdesk 30 December 2012, 15:27 W460

Nigerian soldiers killed four suspected extremists and lost one policeman in the latest crackdown on the Islamist Boko Haram group in the country's restive northeast, the military said on Sunday.

Lieutenant Lazarus Eli, spokesman for the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, said in a statement that the operation was carried out on Saturday in an area of the city of Potiskum that is a hotbed of the Boko Haram extremists.

"Four of the suspected terrorists were killed in the encounter. One policeman attached to the JTF lost his life and a soldier sustained injuries," he said.

"Fifty-nine persons were arrested during the operation for interrogation," he also said, and a cache of arms, ammunition and explosive devices were recovered.

Potiskum, the commercial hub of Yobe state, has been hard hit by near daily attacks by Boko Haram Islamists in recent months, prompting a heavy army deployment.

Boko Haram has repeatedly targeted the security services as part of its insurgency across northern and central?Nigeria?since 2010.

Violence by the Islamist group and those blamed on security forces are believed to have killed more than 3,000 in?Nigeria?since 2009.

(AP) ? South Africa's presidency says it has no updates on the condition of former leader Nelson Mandela, who is convalescing at home after a hospital stay and is reported to be doing better.

The South African Press Association quotes presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj as saying Saturday that he has no new information on 94-year-old Mandela, who was released from a hospital on Wednesday. The former president, who spent 27 years in prison under apartheid, was admitted Dec. 8 and received treatment for a lung infection.

He also had a procedure to remove gallstones.

Maharaj previously said doctors have noted progress in Mandela's condition but will continue to treat him at his home in the Johannesburg neighborhood of Houghton.

Attackers Target Internet Explorer Zero-Day Flaw ? Krebs on Security

Attackers are breaking into Microsoft Windows computers using a newly discovered vulnerability in Internet Explorer, security experts warn. While the flaw appears to have been used mainly in targeted attacks so far, this vulnerability could become more widely exploited if incorporated into commercial crimeware kits sold in the underground.

IEwarningIn a blog posting Friday evening, Milpitas, Calif. based security vendor FireEye said it found that the Web site for the Council on Foreign Relations was compromised and rigged to exploit a previously undocumented flaw in IE8 to install malicious software on vulnerable PCs used to browse the site.

According to FireEye, the attack uses Adobe Flash to exploit a vulnerability in the latest (fully-patched) version of IE8. Dustin Childs, group manager for response communications at Microsoft, said the vulnerability appears to exist in previous versions of IE.

?We are actively investigating reports of a small, targeted issue affecting Internet Explorer 6-8,? Childs said in an emailed statement. ?We will take appropriate action to help keep customers protected once our analysis is complete. People using Internet Explorer 9-10 are not impacted.?

As FireEye notes, this is another example of a ?watering hole? attack, which involves the targeted compromise of legitimate websites thought to be of interest to or frequented by end users who belong to organizations that attackers wish to infiltrate. Earlier this year, I wrote about similar zero-day attacks against visitors to the Web sites of the National Democratic Institute, The Carter Center, and Radio Free Europe.

Update, Dec. 30, 9:25 a.m. ET:?Microsoft has officially acknowledged this vulnerability in an advisory, which contains some advice for IE users about how to mitigate the threat from the flaw.?As IE versions 9 and 10 are not impacted, users running Windows Vista or higher can upgrade to the latest browser version here.

'Warm Bodies': Watch The First Four Minutes

Despite utter zombie exhaustion, "Warm Bodies" has a premise we could potentially get behind. Sure, there's a lot of room for some cheeseball moments when you have a zombie falling in love and slowly becoming human again, but at least it's something different. If you remain unconvinced that anything original can be done with zombies [...]
